Can You Get A Virus From G2A?

NO

The answer is a simple NO.

The most important thing here is that when you purchase a product on G2A – be it a video game or downloadable content for a title you like – you DO NOT download anything from this website! All you get here is keys that you then have to redeem on an external platform, such as Steam, Ubisoft Connect (formerly Uplay) or Epic. These are all legit download sources and if anything happens, it will be a problem on these services’ side rather than G2A’s.

Second, you do not need any extra software to use G2A aside from a web browser that you already have installed on your computer.

There is, of course, a mobile application, G2A.com, available on the App Store and Google Play, but since it is available there, it means it is free from all sorts of malware and viruses, nothing to worry about here. If this wasn’t the case, then it wouldn’t have been listed on these stores.

Alright, you might always ask the following question: but what if there is malware on their website directly? Well, G2A seems to have some pretty strong security measures put up on their site, so I wouldn’t expect any nasty stuff or viruses on their website, but there is a couple of things that you need to keep in mind to ensure your safety.

First, always make sure you are browsing the actual G2A.com website. Don’t google the address, always input it manually – it’s short and simple, anyway. Otherwise you might end up on a fake site that might be used to either infect your computer with malware and other nasty crap or steal your sensitive data, such as credit card details.

Always check if you’ve entered the address correctly and make sure there is a padlock next to the address.

Second, do not open any links that lead to any external sites. This is something the company warns against often. Consider the following: you bought a key that doesn’t work, so you contact the seller. However, they send you a link to some external “service” or whatever. Don’t click on that link or you risk your sensitive data getting stolen and used for malicious purposes. Remember to accept refunds and spare keys through G2A’s internal chat service.

Naturally, there are links that lead to the marketplace, because there is a service called G2A goldmine where people share links to products on G2A and if someone uses them to buy stuff, the link owner gets a small cut. Again, be sure that such a link leads to G2A.com and not anywhere else.

Hope this helps!
