Is it safe to pay using a credit card on g2a?
Yes. Just as there’s a very small chance there are any scammers selling games bought using stolen credit cards on this marketplace, your own card will be perfectly safe there, too.
G2A supports a whole bunch of payment methods, including credit/debit cards. If that’s your preferred method, go for it. The payment process looks virtually the same as elsewhere, you need to provide the card’s number, expiry date and CVV code. If everything’s entered correctly, the payment will go through and you’ll get your purchase.
G2A uses pretty much the same security measures as any online shopping platform or store. They’re partners with the likes of Visa and Mastercard, so if they have their license, then this means g2a can be trusted when it comes to payments.
There’s even an entire video from MPE 2019 where g2a’s CEO talks about payment safety and details how g2a works towards maintaining security on their platform. Check video below if you’re interested.
By the way, MPE (which stands for Merchant Payments Ecosystem) is Europe’s largest merchant payments conference. If g2a’s higher-ups are speakers at such an event, this further proves they’re a legit platform that you can trust.
Obviously, there is a chance that something may go wrong, but these are most likely going to be just payment-related issues like a connection error, miscommunication with your bank, etc. etc.
Just to be on the safe side, though, you should always check if you’re shopping on the actual g2a site or perhaps a fake that’s designed to scam people. Make sure the address is always “g2a.com” and check if there’s a padlock icon next to the address.
Keep your antivirus updated to have your computer free from all sorts of malware. Be extremely cautious when opening suspicious links! Best if you just don’t click them at all. Still, all this applies to using any other site, not just g2a. Common sense is key. And if paying by credit or debit card isn’t your thing, there are other payment methods that g2a supports.
