Is G2A Safe with Paypal? How do i pay with Paypal on G2A.com?

G2a boasts that it supports like around two hundred payment methods, including PayPal (one of the most popular ones around, would’ve been weird if they didn’t include that one).

It’s a simple thing to do, really: just choose PayPal as your method during checkout, click on Continue, enter all the necessary details and authorize the transaction. Your payment should totally go smooth and without any hassle.

However, there is one post that I came across that touches upon the issue of PayPal and safety on g2a.

Basically, this Redditor said they used PayPal to pay for an order and were subsequently charged for a subscription that they didn’t ask for.

I don’t really know what happened there, the subscription this person is referring to is probably g2a plus, a service they have that gives you additional discounts as a bonus to the current ones. Not really sure why this issue is connected with PayPal at all.

This certainly isn’t the infamous Shield that g2a has finally gotten rid of a couple years ago (good riddance), so…

As far as I recall, there is a button available during checkout that activates the 7-day trial of Plus. I think it’s probably set to OFF by default, but I might be wrong here. Not sure who’s at fault here, but I suppose it’s best to pay close attention to the checkout stages and watch what you click.

So, I think this person might have either accidentally activated the trial button OR they have clicked it because the button might have said something about extra discounts (that’s what g2a plus is for, anyway), but this redditor might have not read the text below the button.

Since the charge came a week later, this means that the trial period has ended and an actual subscription started (you need to manually cancel the trial or else it will transform into a regular monthly subscription). This is a common practice, you’ll encounter it in some online stores, too.

The truth might be that the person who wrote the post might have been careless in their clicking, didn’t pay much attention to what they were doing and poof! They got charged.

Unfortunately, people love to bash marketplaces and online stores/trading platforms in general, but the thing is that these folks often should blame themselves for their mistakes instead.

In order to avoid this or any other problem, always check the seller you’re buying a product from, regional restrictions and the platform the key is for. Read the messages during the checkout process carefully. Always double-check what you have in your shopping cart before you confirm your purchase. And once that’s done, check your inbox for e-mails on not just the transaction being successful, but also any subscription that you might have turned on, accident or not.

Stick to these simple rules and you should have a fun shopping experience on g2a without having to go to Reddit and bash the platform there. Stuff like that doesn’t help and only keeps the myths alive and kicking.
